What this page verifies
This page documents Pasteful's output rules and the file structures covered by automated fixtures. It is not a claim that every version of every receiving app renders the clipboard identically.
The receiving app makes the final paste decision. For important work, use Preview and Text, paste into the real destination, and check the result before deleting the source.
What each destination accepts
Pasteful chooses an output for the destination instead of sending the same Markdown everywhere. When the receiving app has no matching feature, the preview shows the readable fallback before you copy.

What Copy puts on the clipboard
WhatsApp, Discord and Zendesk ticket comments receive destination-specific text syntax. iMessage, Signal, Telegram, Slack, Teams, Gmail, Outlook, Notion, Word and Google Docs receive both a text/plain fallback and safe semantic HTML when the browser supports ClipboardItem. Calendar descriptions receive portable plain text. Slack also exposes API-style mrkdwn, while Notion and Google Docs expose portable Markdown.

Documents and files
Notion and Google Docs can receive rich clipboard content or portable Markdown. Markdown export creates a UTF-8 .md file. Word export creates an OOXML .docx package with heading styles, numbering, links, code and tables.
Rich copy is for inserting text into a document that is already open. DOCX download is for a standalone file. These are separate routes because Word's paste policy can change the styling after the clipboard arrives.
Raw HTML and HTML files
HTML code or a local HTML file is handled separately from normal formatted copy. Choose HTML code or file only when you can see tags, or open and drop a local .html or .htm file. For text copied normally from an app or webpage, choose Rich text so Pasteful can read the formatted clipboard representation.
The HTML parser keeps headings, paragraphs, emphasis, lists, safe external links, quotes, code and simple tables. It does not run scripts, submit forms, embed pages or fetch remote styles, images or other resources. Source CSS, classes, IDs, fonts and layout are removed. Unsafe links, missing images, flattened table spans and complexity limits appear in the loss report.

Plain text
Plain mode removes emphasis, strike, heading and code markers while keeping paragraphs, bullets, numbering and explicit link destinations readable.
What still needs checking
Receiving apps change, and browser clipboard support differs. Check nested lists, complex tables, equations, footnotes, citations, images and code blocks in the destination itself.
A visual match is not enough for Word or Google Docs. Confirm that headings are recognised as headings, lists continue when you press Enter, links open the intended destination and tables contain real cells.
