Markdown files
Markdown downloads are UTF-8 plain-text files with a .md extension. Headings, emphasis, lists, links, quotes, code and tables remain Markdown source that standard editors can open.
Word documents
DOCX downloads are OOXML packages that Word can edit directly. The exporter uses Word-native headings, paragraphs, numbering definitions, hyperlinks, code styling and table geometry.
The generated file preserves document structure. It does not verify the wording, citations, alternative text or reading order for you.
Copy or download
Use Copy rich text when the destination document is already open and you want to insert the result. Use Download DOCX when you need a standalone file, an attachment or a document with its own page styles.

Structures to review in Word
Open the exported file in Word and check the Navigation Pane, list continuation, link destinations and table headers. Complex source material can still need manual work.
