Why not use Paste without formatting?+
That removes unwanted styling, but it can also remove useful emphasis, links and list structure. Pasteful keeps those semantics without source presentation styles.
Does it work in Gmail plain-text mode?+
Use Copy plain text when the draft is in plain-text mode. Rich formatting cannot survive in a plain-text email.
